Introducing: Table of Contents
Why does the Tom Atkins mango, the most commonly found mango in North America, fail to inspire the kind of emotions that an Indian Alphonso can? How did the potato possibly fuel the energies of European colonisers to conquer half the world? Why did someone recently instruct me to always, ALWAYS get myself a nice big helping of some tasty food when sitting down to watch an episode of the Netflix series Ugly Delicious?
In fact, nowadays people (me included) consume food content almost as much as they consume food itself. Whether we're wolfing down those #foodporn pictures on Instagram or slurping up the newest episode of Chef's Table, we have to admit, food must now share table space with food content.
So here's a new segment for you: Table of Contents (TOC)
As one of those hungry consumers of food content myself, I keep coming across new channels to experience and explore food. The story of the Tom Atkins mango, for example, is something I heard on a podcast on my bus ride home from work. The potato's journey around the world I read about in a food history magazine. And I'm yet to watch Ugly Delicious but now I'll be prepared when I do!
So every other week I'll share pieces or channels of food content (including the ones I've mentioned above) that I have enjoyed and I think you might enjoy too! Expect info on podcasts, magazines, blogs, food movies, documentaries, web series and TV shows, photo essays and any other format of food media I may come across and love.
Through this segment I hope you discover things that give you food for thought, or simply tickle your tastebuds. Stay tuned...
Ps. If you have food content that you love, please send your reccos my way in the comments!
