We Feed The Planet - Day 0
Today we arrived in Milano, Italy, for the Terra Madre Giovanni (Youth) - We Feed The Planet conference. And by "we" I mean the Indian delegation, which consists of farmer, chefs, students of food, parmaculture designers and indigenous food activists. Yup, a pretty loaded lot!
The 11 of us Indians, along with hundreds of others from across the globe, are here to discuss the future of food.
The current forecast on the global food crisis is that by 2050 the world population will increase to 9 billion people: Which means 2 billion more mouths to feed!
How can this be done efficiently and sustainably? Well, this is what a thousand small scale farmers, fishers, food producers, chefs and other small scale actors in the food system are here to discuss.
The conference officially gets inaugurated tomorrow, i.e. the 3rd of October 2015, but we kicked off today by informally meeting a host of like-minded people from across the globe, who are all doing incredibly inspirational work! Already, stories are being exchanged and friendships formed.
The next 4 days can only get better!
Looks like it's going to be a fab experience. Keep posting on your blog and we too shall learn from your conversations with people in this field on how this issue is being approached.
