350 Peruvian Potatoes: WFTP Edible Experiences
One of the Peruvian delegates, who had also shared his story
during the “Intercultural Gastronomy” discussion, is a member of an indigenous
community from Peru.
He is a potato farmer. But not just any ol’ spuds – he grows
about 350 varieties of indigenous Peruvian potatoes! The kinds that come in all
kinds of colours, shapes and sizes - Peru has over three thousand varieties! And one of the things he does with them is
make potato chips – a form of value addition to sell his produce.
