99 Thinking Caps On in Turin

It is that time of year again - the biennial Slow Food summit, the Terra Madre - Salone del Gusto, is in full swing in Turin, Italy.

Various organizations and independent food professionals from India have made their way to Italy this week to exchange their ideas, their work, and of course, food, at this global conference.

Wishing I could have been there in person again this year, I sit here in Bangalore with my eyes peeled for updates on the happenings at Salone del Gusto.

This year, an event that I’ve been most excited to follow is the SFYN Tank, organized by Slow Food Youth Network (SFYN)

SFYN Tank is a social-design workshop to develop innovative solutions to 9 food issues that challenge the world today. Listen to this podcast to know more.

The think-tank, which came together today, saw brainstorming and ideation among 99 people, from 33 countries, working at the grassroots with food and social development.

Of the 9 food issues, I am mostly closely watching

Issue 4: When innovative design preserves traditional knowledge,

Issue 5: Food education tools, and

Issue 6: Really designing sustainable kitchens

Check out the social network feeds of SFYN and Slow Food International to know more about what’s been happening at Terra Madre - Salone del Gusto 2016. I know I'll be watching the feeds!

Many friends I made at the SFYN We Feed The Planet conference last year are sharing updates on their social media, and I can't thank them enough for helping me stay tuned!
